Before you begin

Three walks. Your own pace.

No guide to meet and no fixed start time. Open the book on your phone and let the city's people walk with you.

  1. Choose your walk

First visit? Start with Sultanahmet. Each walk works on its own, so pick the one that suits your day.

  2. Open the map

Every stop has an Open in Maps button. Tap it, then choose walking directions to the exact spot where to stand.

  3. Meet the faces

At each stop an emperor, an artisan or a traveller tells their story. Then turn the page to the next stop.

The faces

Thirty voices, two thousand years

Emperors and sultans, architects and artisans, travellers and imagined witnesses. Tap a face to meet them in the book.

    The last letter

    Dear traveller,

You have met emperors and artisans, writers and imagined witnesses.

Now the city has a few more faces, and a few more stories to carry with you.

Return to a favourite place. Choose another walk. Or simply pause and watch Istanbul pass by.

    Until our next chapter,
